Samara Zelniker, yoga teacher, founder and president of Mindfulness Matters started her company after a life changing trip to Nairobi, Kenya where she helped train 150 people from all over Africa to become yoga teachers. She was deeply touched by the people that she met and inspired by how yoga shaped their daily lives.
After several years in the corporate workplace, she often came home feeling depleted, unfulfilled and with limited time and energy to focus on extracurricular activities. She thought that if she were feeling this way, others probably were too. A shift in focus from stress and sluggishness to health and action was a must.
As a ten-year practising yogi, she experienced firsthand the benefits that come from doing yoga both mentally and physically. She made it her mission to spread these benefits to others. This caused a massive shift in perspective in her life and helped her become a much happier more fulfilled person. She no longer dreads going to work and wakes up excited to see what possibilities the day has in store for her. She sees the opportunity to connect with everyone who crosses her path and looks at situations with an open mind and open heart. She no longer sees challenges as obstacles but rather as ways to improve herself and live her best life. She is passionate about sharing these principles and ways of being with you and guiding you realize your full potential through yoga and mindfulness.
Samara received her 200 hour teacher training through Power Yoga Canada, 100 hour teacher training through Africa Yoga Project, 200 hour teacher training with Baron Baptiste, is an E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) an accreditation recognized world wide, and will teach and train her own students in a 200 hour teacher training in November 2015.
Samara teaches yoga in both group and private settings, in schools to both teachers and students, pre and post natal yoga, conducts speeches, creates workshops and runs international retreats. She loves connecting and collaborating with likeminded people and is proud to have worked with Childhood Cancer Canada, Soho House, Canada, Incubes, The Working Group, Branksome Hall, Four Seasons, Aquarius Lifestyle Committee, Union Yoga and Wellness, Gravitate Studio, Power Yoga Canada, Track Fitness, Studio Blue, Forest Hill Collegiate and Marni Wasserman.
She doesn’t take herself too seriously and makes living in the moment a top priority. She finds possibility in every moment and does her best to live life as if it were rigged in her favor. Bali is her favorite travel destination (there have been many!) and California will someday be her home.
